Lent, day #2

Day #2 (40 acts): Reach out in friendship to somebody from a different background. I wasn’t sure how to go about this one but I had lunch with two colleagues today who are lovely but who I rarely eat with. So, I decided that was okay and I learned a lot about my colleagues! And we were joined by Oliver Robertson, who was visiting from the Quaker UN Office in Geneva.

Day #2 (action):  Every day at least 1,500 people around the world die from armed violence and conflict. In July UN member states meet to determine the content of the first ever treaty to control this deadly trade.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to save lives and protect human rights, says Amnesty International, so they’ve set up a facility so that we can email David Cameron to encourage the UK to lead the way in making sure that this treaty will protect human rights.
